An Antique 1940 Persian Khorassan, Dorakhash Rug. The centre panel representing a flower Boteh garden in a lattice pattern of Herati, on a deep cream lime pale ground, the border herati guards, hand knotted, vegetable dye. The holy city of Mashad is situated in the east of Iran, in the enormous province of Khorasan. This place has grown from an insignificant village to one of the country's largest cities with a population of 2 million inhabitants, with some of the most beautiful antique rugs are produced from this region.
