An ivory border with pointed edges sets a striking frame around this Mamina kilim. Within it, slate-blue diamonds interlock with burnt orange bands across a rust-red field. Smaller angular motifs form another ring of pattern, giving the centre a clear sense of enclosure.

Hand-woven in Afghanistan from wool, the kilim carries its design in a flatwoven surface. Tiny ivory marks punctuate several diamond centres, adding bright details among the warm, earthy colours.
