The ivory border is the first surprise: an airy band of flowers in sage, sand and warm brown framing a deep red centre. Inside it, pale rosettes and curling stems return in a steady rhythm. The field is richly worked, yet the repetition gives its colour and detail an elegant sense of order.

Hand-knotted in India in the Ziegler tradition, this wool and silk rug rewards attention to its surface. Gentle shifts of lustre bring definition to the smaller flowers as the light moves, while red and ivory remain its commanding notes.
