One-of-a-kind hand-knotted piece

No two are alike - each rug carries its own pattern, colour balance and handmade character

Three commanding diamond medallions unfold in a vertical sequence across the rich red field of this Afghan Kazak rug. Stepped outlines in cream, blue and pale green give each medallion striking definition, while smaller geometric forms fill the surrounding field with a lively, carefully balanced rhythm. Broad layered borders bring further ornament through angular floral motifs and repeating tribal forms.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from hand-spun wool, the rug reflects the bold geometry and expressive colour associated with the Kazak design tradition. Its generous scale allows the intricate field and borderwork to reveal their full character, creating a powerful visual anchor shaped by symmetry, contrast and skilled handwork.

Care & Maintenance

  • Hand-knotted wool rugs are made to last with the right care. Vacuum gently using a suction-only setting, rotate the rug occasionally for even wear, and blot any marks promptly with a clean cloth rather than rubbing.
  • For deeper cleaning, professional rug cleaning is recommended to help protect the wool fibres, natural dyes and hand-knotted structure of the rug.

Note

  • Each rug is professionally photographed to represent its colours as accurately as possible, while natural light, pile direction and digital display settings may create subtle variations in tone.
  • Where additional colour is required, the wool in our hand-knotted rugs is coloured exclusively with vegetable dyes, complementing the fibre’s natural tonal variation and the individual character of the weave.
  • Over time, vegetable-dyed handmade rugs may gently soften in tone, adding to the natural ageing and textile character that makes each piece unique.
