Choose one gül and follow it across the rug: a dark, many-sided emblem returning in measured rows, with smaller motifs linking the spaces between. The red field has movement, yet every line has its place. Near the fringe, the pattern changes scale. Fine diagonal bands lead to a row of rosettes touched with ivory before the guls take over again.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from pure wool pile, this Fine Turkmen Tekke rug brings vivid red together with burgundy, dark navy and near-black detail. Give its fringed ends and layered borders room to show around the furniture; they are as carefully worked as the field. Pale upholstery heightens the contrast, while timber and leather draw out the deeper reds. It is a rug whose colour commands attention and whose geometry rewards a closer look.
