A deep brown field gives this Afghan Khurjeen runner a calm foundation, but its details refuse to stand still. Turquoise, rust, ivory, red and soft blue botanical forms appear at measured intervals, accompanied by smaller blossoms and delicate branching motifs. Without a heavy enclosing border, the ornament seems to float across the subtly striated ground, creating an unusually open composition.

The Khurjeen name is connected with khorjin—decorative woven saddlebags in which practical form and textile artistry travelled together. Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from pure wool pile, this elongated interpretation carries that expressive tradition into the home. Restrained from a distance and intricate when approached, it brings colour and handmade character to a hallway without visually crowding the space.
