Nothing here is left idle. Compact medallions, small crosses and angular emblems occupy the deep red field in close succession before meeting a dark navy border built from larger hooked forms. Rust, muted olive and ivory surface in measured flashes, easing the contrast without diminishing its force.

Hand-knotted from wool in Afghanistan, this Khal Mohammadi runner turns dense pattern into a continuous visual narrative. Its vocabulary is traditional, yet the effect is strikingly graphic: commanding from a distance and increasingly intricate as the individual forms come into view.
