Brown takes on the depth of burnished wood in this Afghan Chobi rug. Large ivory medallions, edged like many-petalled flowers, unfold across the field in olive, ochre and muted blue-grey. Fine flowering vines travel between them, while a broad muted-gold border gives the composition a calm, deliberate frame.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from pure wool pile, the rug balances generous scale with finely drawn ornament. Its presence comes from contrast rather than excess: a richly varied ground set against luminous medallions and airy botanical detail.
