Kunduz Rug - 286 x 203cm

Kunduz rugs are intricately hand knotted rugs handmade in Kunduz and its surrounding villages in northern Afghanistan. Afghan Kunduz Rugs are a finer quality than Afghan Khal Mohammadi Rugs. The knotting is typically fine, neat and consistent creating a smooth, velvety pile.

The pile is wool hand knotted onto wool warps, occasionally cotton warp threads. One of the distinguishing features of Afghan Kunduz Rugs is finish of the band of flat weave (kilim) at each end of the rug which is decorated in red and black squares.
