A gorgeous wool & silk hand-knotted Herati Rug.

This pattern is a widely used and ancient motif, variously interpreted as portraying vine leaves or fish, found both in main field and as a border decoration.

It is a motif widely used in Persia as well as in India, it is thought to symbolize the small fishes that, at the time of the full moon, come up to just beneath the surface of water to swim in the moon's reflection. Thus, the Herati design sometimes referred to as the fish design.

Care & Maintenance

  • Hand-knotted wool rugs are made to last with the right care. Vacuum gently using a suction-only setting, rotate the rug occasionally for even wear, and blot any marks promptly with a clean cloth rather than rubbing.
  • For deeper cleaning, professional rug cleaning is recommended to help protect the wool fibres, natural dyes and handmade structure of the rug.

Note

  • Each rug is professionally photographed to represent its colours as accurately as possible, while natural light, pile direction and digital display settings may create subtle variations in tone.
  • Each hand-knotted rug is coloured using 100% vegetable dyes, giving the fibres natural depth, gentle tonal movement and the individual character of handmade weaving.
  • Over time, vegetable-dyed handmade rugs may gently soften in tone, adding to the natural ageing and textile character that makes each piece unique.
